July BuJo and June's tangled habits

I used a Zentangle® fragment again for my July calendar.  The grid and numbers are done in black Pigma micron and each fragment in gray (graphite color) Graphik line maker. The fragment is P5.

Then I got to wondering if I could put that fragment into a hexagon.  Here's how it turned out.
Start in the center and draw 3 lines radiating out.

Now stretch your fragment into each diamond.

Next I added weight to the lines.

3 hexagons with P5 fragment.

Reticula and fragments. P5.

Makes me think you could likely stretch any square fragment to fit a diamond and repeating 3 times in the hexagon.  Uh oh, is there another hexagon series in the works?  If you want to see my hexagon play, click on the hexagon label to the right.

And here is my follow up habit tracker for June; also a fragment, A5.

And I tried something new for June too, encouraging and counting specific habits.  I basically drew a string scene in pencil using stencils, drawing around dies and simply drawing shapes.  Here it is early on in the month.

And here it is after I filled in the stuff I did.  It was fun and I think I'll try that again!

June

My June calendar.  I'm using Reticula and Fragments again.  This is Y2.  See how it's the same square, just rotated (and I did vary the size of the triangles and the hatching/shading differs as well).  I used black and gray ink.  I plan to do a touch of journaling in black on top of the gray.

And I just love this photo of a tree a saw on a walk.  I'm taking the photo pointing up towards the sky viewing this huge tree.  If you look closely, it appears I'm photographing a reflection in the water.  Those leaves radiating outward look like ripples in water to me.  My husband didn't notice until I pointed it out to him.  Do you see the ripples?
photo of tree or water?

Fragments in my journal

My habit tracker from April uses the fragment "J6".

And the beginnings of my May calendar focuses on "E4".  Am I a few days late starting my calendar? Or just showing you how it's structured? Maybe a little of both.

Wholly Hollibaugh

Sorry I haven't been able to post for awhile.
Wholly Hollibaugh ATC

Thought I'd share this wholly hollibaugh with you.  It's a fun technique opening up a "hole" in your tangle to see the layer below.    There is Tipple, Meer, Shattuck and Enyshou hiding in my Hollibaugh.

And here is my first attempt in my BuJo.  I like to test out a new technique or tangle in it.  It's nice to look back and have a visual timeline.

And speaking of BuJos....here is my "Meerly Cadent" combo tangle as my March calendar.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hope to see you back here soon!

February, ScaraDewd and Rumpus

My February calendar in my BuJo plays with the Zentangle pattern Scarabou (sorry, no online instructions, see your local CZT for instructions) and the new pattern, Dewd.

That influenced this Bijou tile...  I am calling the tangle combo ScaraDewd!  (Don't wait until Halloween to try it ;-).   I started with a rennaisance Bijou tile and used a pink micron (PN), colored pencils and gray marker.

And another new tangle, Rumpus, on this Apprentice tile.  I used a black micron, metallic colored pencils and there's a very light layer of prussian blue pencil in the background but it doesn't really show up in the photo.

I have been remiss in keeping up with posting my projects and photos.  I intend to catch up.  We'll see right?

Thanks for stopping by!

Enjoy this winter photo....

Flowers? It's Meer-ly January!

This new stamp, Crimson Blush, from Penny Black is just beautiful....  I stamped it with tattered rose Distress Ink and then "watercolored" with more distress inks, candied apple, wild honey, crushed olive, bundled sage, vintage photo, chipped sapphire and hickory smoke.  I also used a gelato, snow cone, on the sky.  Mainly I'm noting the colors so I have something to refer back to...I was so pleased with the outcome!  The sentiment is from another new set (yes, I've been shopping) So Loved.  I stamped on Portofino Acquerello 140 lb watercolor paper.  I haven't played with this paper much and this is my first time water coloring using distress reinkers.  I'm not sure whether it was the paper or the ink or the combination that caused the bleeding, but it worked well anyway....I just added a few thin lines with a 005 black micron.  The reinkers are SO saturated with color, I'll try them more diluted next time, but again I'm happy with this one!

Here is how I started, at this point I thought it would be a vertical card.

And after  i dropped candied apple and wild honey onto individual wet petals.

And I was also busy with Christmas thank you cards.  These Beautiful Day flowers from Altenew were stamped over a distress oxide background and then I added colored pencil.  The thanks die is from Hero Arts.

And I enjoy making the backs of my cards special too.

Another Penny Black stamp, peony using distress and distress oxide inks.

The dies used on both card backs are a Sizzix Tim Holtz set wildflowers.

And my January calendar for my journal using the tangle Meer.  I drew the string loosely but in pen.  I even outlined the wrong number of squares initially and then added in a few more!  And although the string was loose, I took my time filling it in.

Thanks again for stopping by!

Hex 9 Fragments...and more!

Foxy's been building away and wanted to show off a few more reticula and fragment examples.

So simple...I see twisted rope.

And here I see Static.

A Meer fragment that creates a triangle.

Some Striping or side by side Meer.

And yet another hexagon, sort of a gem quality to it.

Perhaps Foxy is done for awhile with these alternating triangles?  (For more about Foxy see my last post. For more hexagon fun, check out the hexagons label to the right or click here.)

I also thought I'd share my BuJo calendar featuring Organza Again.

And then, in honor of MoFins being included at Tanglepatterns.com (woohoo!) I had fun with this.

First I had fun with a dirty stencil.  I had been playing around with my Distress Oxide ink pads and one of my favorite stencils from Crafter's Workshop, cosmic swirl.   It pays not to clean your stencil sometimes.  All I had to do was mist the stencil with water and then apply paper to it.  These 3 were done on Bristol smooth.  They are roughly the size of ATCs.

But this larger one (about 4 1/2" x 6")....this one I claimed for MoFins!

I added the first step of MoFins, but then Maryhill wanted to play, so it would've been a duotangle...

Until I realized that Mooka had been there all along, it just needed a little coaxing with colored pencil.

And then I decided to be brave and do this...
Yup, I cut it!  But I had a plan.  After stacking several layers of letters (bold alpha dies by Altenew) and outlining in marker, I returned them to the piece

I'm calling Dream Big! Shown here on a card base that's 5" by 6 1/2"
Thanks for stopping by.  And thanks too, if you choose to leave a comment!  Have a good day!

A4 fragment and November calendar.

As I was filling in my habit tracker for October, I noticed that the fragment A4 (from the Zentangle® Primer) could create plaid!

Here I tried it out as a monotangle (er monofragment?).  See the individual fragment down in the lower left?

And here, a totally different look just by taking the same fragment but repeating and mirroring in a different pattern.

I really liked the plaid and decided it would make a nice card for someone special.  I took Bristol vellum and air brushed using Copic markers.  I used a hexagon stencil I cut.  Next I tangled with a black micron inside the hexagon.  I added the gold grid on top with a GellyRoll just to complete the plaid look.  Next I scribbled the gold on a white scrap of cardstock, let it dry and then die cut it, along with several black layers all stacked together for the sentiment.  I believe this die is by Crafter's Companion.  And here it is mounted on a black A2 card base.

And I case you're wondering what my November calendar for my BuJo looks like:
Fife as a calendar.

Have a good week!
